A new marina at the foot of Ibiza’s old town named PortIbizaTown has added mooring targeted to yachts 60m to 140m in length. Prior to the creation of these berth, superyachts visiting the island had to anchor outside the harbor and send their passengers in via tenders.
Marina sa Riba manages the new moorings, The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) selected the Marina sa Riba from among three different companies that offered proposals. The Port of Ibiza intends to strengthen its position in the super yacht market and cater for existing demand for large vessel moorings on the island.
Before the expansion, the Port of Ibiza only had a handful of berths for yachts up to 70m in length ,even though the island has begun attracting many larger yachts over the past few years.
PortIbizaTown opened for business in summer 2013, but improvements in the facilities occurred over the winter, including installation of a 3.5-m wide wooden deck to form a promenade next to the moored yachts. Landscape of the new marine includes gardening, waste disposal facilities and lights and service pedestals for water connection. WiFi, refuse collection, 24-hour security and customized client assistance are among the services offered to clients.
