Royal-Huisman-beast-58m-performance-sloopThe design for a new 58-meter sailing mega yacht by Royal Huisman and Dubois Naval Architects is one of the new orders that will be revealed at the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show. Royal Huisman has indicated that the owner wants a “beast” that is edgy, innovative, fast and furious and a high performer.

The new sloop will feature dramatic sheer lines, a crisp stern and sculpted bow, designed to be fashionable as well as functional providing adding to the ship’s sea worthiness and overall strength. Planned with a slender, easy-to-manoeuver hull and a carbon fiber rudder and high-span lifting keel to guide her under water, the sloop design will undergo extensive tank testing before building starts.

Exterior plans call for a stylish molded glass superstructure with wide teak planks for the deck that skillfully hides a crane, tender garage and large spa. Also planned is a beach deck with a swim platform that can expand.

Ed Dubois of Dubois Naval Architects indicated that the client offered an intelligent concept that led to a design that incorporates high performance while also paying attention to style and luxury.

Francis Sultana is slated to create a relaxed interior that includes a master apartment with its own gym, sauna and library. The interior will also feature along two guest staterooms and a main deck with outdoor seating. British designer company Rick Baker will develop exotic interior finishes and fixed interior furniture.  And the Light Corporation will design lighting.

Keel laying is schedule for January 2015 with delivery planned for spring 2017.
