Royal Huisman’s latest order is a 56m classic ketch designed by Dykstra Naval Architects. Mark Whitely Design will raft the interior of the vessel to be named Aquarius.
In the brief written by the owners who are an American couple, called for a stunning looking yacht that may be enjoyed by the whole family. Dykstra created a slender hull with long overhangs that bring an elegant and class look, yet maintains favorable sea-keeping characteristics, making Aquarius suitable for worldwide cruising.
Plans call for a generous sail area combined with her ketch rig and modern underwater body with fin keel and spade rudder to assure light air agility to all-round performance. Below decks storage will include areas for toys such as a Laser, kayaks, windsurfer and bicycles.
The interior will complement the elegant profile and traditional lines with raised and fielded white paneling trimmed with a simple profile of fine, varnished timber. The owners have indicated they want a relaxed home on the water. Accommodations include a split-level master cabin with a private deckhouse and cockpit, a large deck salon, three en-suite guest cabins, a media room and a fully equipped gym. One cabin will serve as a bunk-room for extended family with twin beds that convert to a queen bed with a set of Pullman berths above. The gymnasium will also have an optional Pullman berth.
Delivery is scheduled for autumn 2017.
