Megayacht Builder Trinity Yachts Once Again for Sale: Although Harvey Gulf International Marine purchased supewryacht builder Trinity Yachts last June, the manufacturer’s New Orleans yacht building facility is on the market again for approximate $30 million.
The $30 million price tag will include the Trinity Yachts name, brand, the 48-acre shipyard, 20 complete designs and all engineering research and development completed to date, plus hull T-052, a partially built 168-foot project. Another hull, T-056, is also available for sale but not part of the advertised sale agreement.
Trinity’s COO Billy Smith has indicated that Harvey Gulf intends to retain Trinity’s Gulfport, MS, facility, which was acquired in the June purchase. While Harvey Gulf acknowledges that the New Orleans facility is viable, it represents more capacity than the company needs to service its core business involving the offshore oil and gas industry.
The New Orleans facility offers several possibilities for buyers such as the continuation of new builds or the possible establishment of a world-class superyacht repair facility. Smith offered that the shipyard may represent a good opportunity for a group of businessmen or yacht owners who want to get into the business at a reduced risk.
Operations are expected to continue as normal at the yard until a buyer is found. Smith stressed that the situation is not a distressed sale and that Harvey Gulf would like t find a fair price for the facility with hope for a smooth transition in ownership while maintaining the Trinity brand.
