Megayacht Builder Christensen Shipyards Workforce Growing: Four months after Henry Luken took over full ownership of the financially troubled Christensen Shipyards, the Washington State manufacturer now employs 105 craftspeople working in four yachts in various stages of build.
Christensen’s workforce number about 90 people when Luken closed the acquisition deal in July. At that time, he told local media that he planned to eventually employ 140 to 150 people by building his workforce gradually.
Silver Lining, also know as Hull 36, the first yacht anticipated for launch, which should occur during the next few weeks, with delivery expected for early 2016. Black walnut wood decorates the relaxations areas that include six staterooms. Her saloon, dining area and sky lounge are all reportedly larger than usual for a 50m superyacht. Silver Lining does not yet have a buyer.
Early 2016 will also see the delivery of the 48.8m Chasseur, which will feature six staterooms. The 50m Hull 42 is also in build with delivery anticipated for late 2017, but no details are available on the design. She was acquired by Christensen from the buyers who originally commissioned her.
Hull 38, also available for sale, recently began production. She is a sister ship to Silver Lining and offers a buyer a chance to tailor the interior and other spaces. All of the Christensen megayachts in construction are being built to ABS classification.
