New 100m Superyacht Concept Features TiltRotor Aircraft: London-based studio Winch Design’s latest trimaran superyacht concept is a 100m vessel with a landing pad and hangar for an Agusta Wetland 609 TiltRotor aircraft. Originally for military use, TiltRotor planes have only recently become available for civilian use. They have the takeoff and landing versatility of a helicopter and may become of the most exciting new toys for the ultra-rich.
The AW609 craft has a top speed of up to 275 knots at an altitude up to 25,000 feet with a range of 700 nm. Typical helicopters have top speeds of 140 knots and a range of 400 nm. This TiltRotor can perform long-range trips with up to nine passengers and two crewmembers on board with a full fuel load.
In addition to facilities to host the unique aircraft, the yacht will also feature an expansion interior and ample tender garages. Dutch shipyard Oceanco has developed the concenpt in conjunction with Winch Design. Few other details are available, although Winch Design has indicated that the trimaran will have high fuel efficiency and a top speed of 26 to 28 knots.
