Christensen Preparing to Launch First Superyacht Following Bankruptcy Acquisition

christensen-mega-yacht-for-saleChristensen Preparing to Launch First Superyacht Following Bankruptcy Acquisition: Christensen, the Washington State shipyard that underwent a change of ownership last year following bankruptcy proceedings, is set to launch its first superyacht since the manufacturer was sold. The 50m Silver Lining, formerly known as Hull 36, is set for launch sometime next month.

Featuring spacious interior volumes finished with traditional high-gloss black walnut woodwork, Silver Lining will be launched into Christensen’s five-acre lagoon and then proceed to sea trials on the Colorado River and in the Pacific Ocean. She will accommodate up to 12 guests over six staterooms. Silver Lining is built to ABS Unlimited Cruising standards and is under 300 U.S. regulatory gross tonnage.

Silver Lining’s on-time and on-budget arrival, is a sign of strength from the yard which has temporarily lost all of it workers in 2015 because of its temporary closure in January 2015. Henry Luken, chairman and principal owner of Christensen Shipyards LLC since its sale and reorganization, said he is proud that so many of the yard’s former senior employees, including supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers and naval architects returned to the country. The company’s goal now is to streamline every aspect of the building process and to support the building process along with supporting people who buy the boats the company builds.

Silver Lining is the first of Christensen’s projects, to be followed by the 50m Chasseur in June, featuring a light contemporary sycamore interior design. Both yachts will be featured at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November. The two yachts are expected to provide prospective clients and the yachting industry with a dramatic showcase of Christensen’s dedication to quality ad to its diversity of boatbuilding capabilities.

Additional Christensen projects include the 48.7m Hull 40, named Chasseur, also scheduled for launch in 2016. The 50m Hull 42 is also underway, with delivery expected in 2017. As the sistership to Silver Lining, Hull 38 as been moved into production, is scheduled for delivery in 2018 and currently available for purchase.
