Moonen Delivers Semi-Custom Megayacht Bijoux: The first model in Moonen’s new Matica Caribbean series, the 29.9m Bijoux, was recently delivered to her new owner. The owners plan to take her on her maiden voyage to Malta where the new model’s giant stern swimming platform should come to good use.
Rene van der Velden crafted the exterior design of the Caribbean series, while U.K. designer Adam Lay is responsible for the first Matica interior. Clean lines, symmetry, balance, proportion and natural light are prominent, all within a practical and livable environment.
Bijoux features a 7m beam and a 2.1m draft with a full displacement load of 220 tons. Top speed is approximately 13 knots, while a cruising speed of 9 knots will give her a 3,300-mile range.
Her raised pilothouse design includes a sundeck on top while the layout has the owner’s cabin on the main deck with the main saloon, dining area, bar and galley. Accommodation is split on the lower deck between five crew and three guest cabins.
The shaping of her fully closed transom with only a small swimming platform for crew use is one of her key customizations. Instead a giant hatch opens aft to form a large swimming platform for guests with a fixed stairway on starboard to connect this area to the main deck.
This level of customization is available on all Moonen Caribbean series yachts. The Matrica hull design is based on the Moonen 97 with naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design to ensure comfortable seakeeping and low fuel consumption. A steep bow gives her a harrow entrance and a longer waterline to further increase comfort at sea as well as fuel economy.
