megayacht-amels-Here-Comes-The-Sun-01Amels Launches Largest Megayacht to Date: Dutch shipyard Amels has launched the 83m M/Y Here Comes the Sun from its facility in Vlissingen. The new vessel will become the flagship of the manufacturer’s fleet upon completion. The superyacht is the first Amels Limited Edition 272 constructed, making her its largest semi-custom model and bigger than any of its fully custom yachts, including the 78m Montkaj, delivered in 1995. She also boasts in impressive volume at 2,927 tons.

British designer Tim Heywood developed Here Comes the Sun. Heywood has a strong affiliation with the shipyard, previously working on a number of projects. Here Comes the Sun’s exterior profile shows Amels signature style and showcases the brand’s identity.
Rob Luijendijk, Amels managing director, noted that the superyacht is an excellent example of owners stepping up to larger vessels with the Amels Limited Edition range. The shipyard’s approach gives owners a head start ad the flexibility for customization at the highest level while incorporating top quality yacht building and smooth production.

Amels has delivered 30 Limited Edition superyachts over the past 10 years. The concept appeals to buyers who like a set engineering platform as opposed to selecting all components and performance parameters. Amels indicates that the series has a 17-knot top speed and a 5,500 nm range.

Andrew Winch Designs created her highly detailed décor that includes leather and oak paneling throughout, along with headroom exceeding 7.5 feet. Here Comes the Sun accommodates 16 guests who have a variety of relaxation spaces to enjoy. These include six staterooms on the main deck, a full deck devoted to the owners and a cinema. The owners also have their own saloon accompanying their sleeping area totaling over 3,229 square feet of private space.

Nearly 9,700 square feet of exterior usable space is aboard Here Comes the Sun, including seating, sunning and dining areas along with two pools, a beach club outfitted with fold-down platforms on either side. Tucked inside the beach club are a bar, a sauna and a steam room.
The new owners are expected to take possession of the yacht before the end of the year.
