Ingemansson Teams with Pendennis for Arctic Sun Megayacht Concept

megayacht-Arctic-sun-explorer-yacht-concept-1-1024x576Ingemansson Teams with Pendennis for Arctic Sun Megayacht Concept: Designer Dennis Ingemansson has revealed his latest design, the 50m Arctic Sun megayacht, to be built in conjunction with British yard Pendennis. Arctic Sun will have a steel hull and aluminum superstructure with a total interior volume of 750GT. Ingemansson noted that exterior styling is inspired by the automotive industry.

With a beam of 9.5 meters, Arctic Sun accommodates 10 guests across five cabins, while crew quarter allow for a staff of up to seven.

Despite the concept’s name, this explorer yacht is equally suited for tropical destinations as well as icy climates. The aft heli-deck may be easily converted into a sundeck with spectacular 360-degree views.

A spa, with massage room and sauna, will allow guests to relax on board, or if they prefer, work out in the gymnasium. Another key feature is an upper deck spa pool. The dive center will feature a decompression chamber, while the garage will have room for a pair of tenders ad six Jet Skis.

Minimizing the yacht’s impact on the environment, per many of Ingemansson’s previous designs, is a key theme. Arctic Sun has been designed to be as aerodynamic and fuel efficient as possible, while an option of 80 square meters of solar cells can also reduce the need to burn diesel.

Twin MTU 16V 200 M70 engines will power Arctic Sun with a top speed of 19 knots and a maximum range of 5,750 nm at her optimal cruising speed of 12 knots.
