50m Superyacht Hybrid Bintador Delivered by Tankoa: Tankoa has delivered the 49.9-meter superyacht Bintador to her French owner ahead of her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
Previously known as S502 Elettra, Bintador has exterior design from Francesco Paszkowki and interior design by Paszkowski in collaboration with Margherita Casprini. The interiors are characterized by light, modern tones and use a wealth of natural materials.
Although based on Tankoa’s Vertige platform, Bintador incorporates some differences. The superyacht features an aluminum hull and superstructure.
The hybrid superyacht comes in at 499 GT and features a lower deck equipped with a gym and beach club, while the owner’s suite, which features a private office, lounge and a foldout terrace, along with the galley, dining room and saloon are on the main deck. Additional guests are accommodated across four cabins that include two VIP sites with king-size beds and two twin cabins, one with a Pullman berth. Crew quarters are found on the lower deck.
On the main deck, the cockpit features an oversized sun bed, U-shaped sofa, coffee tables and bar with fold-down bulwarks to maximize floor space and provide exceptional sea views. The foredeck has a touch-and-go helipad and storage for five e-bikes, a tender and jet skis, while the upper deck has a number of relaxation areas and access to the skydeck.
Twin MTU 8V4000M54 engines with 895kW each and two 300 kW electric motors with two 250 kW variable speed generators power Bintador. When the traditional mode is used, Bintador has a cruising speed of 16.5 knots using both main diesel engines for propulsion and a diesel generator to feed the hotel loads. In full-speed mode, Bintador can reach a speed in excess of 18 knots, with both main engines and generators supplying power to the electric motors while also feeding the hotel loads.
For the diesel-electric mode (DEM), two variable-speed generators feed the electric motors, allowing for speeds up to 10.5 knots and a maximum range of 4,900nm. This mode produces considerable fuel savings and reduced noise levels.
In hybrid mode, one of the main engines generated the electrical power needed to run the second motor for propulsion and hotel needs. This enables the superyacht to have a cruising range of about 4,000nm at 12 knots. The two diesel generators can be turned off during navigation.
