Benetti Launches Sixth Fast 140 Mega Yacht Named Ironman: The newest Benetti Fast 140 megayacht named Ironman, is on target for a summertime delivery thanks to her recent launching. The semi-custom series from the busy Italian shipyard offers fuel and performance efficiency at all speeds while also accommodating 12 guests.
Benetti’s in-house research ad development team designed a proprietary hull with Pierluigi Ausonio. Benetti calls the hull design Displacement to Planing (D2P). The hull significantly reduces wave resistance, fuel consumption and pitch and roll. At displacement speeds, it also cruises about 20 percent higher when compared to similarly sized displacement hulls.
Powered by twin MTUs, the mega yacht should realize a top speed of 23 knots. Under a 70% load, she should achieve 18 knots, while a range of 1,800 nautical miles is possible at 12 knots.
Ironman follows traditional interior configurations on a beam of 8.5 meters. The master suite is forward on the main deck along with a combination saloon and dining area. All guest cabins are below decks. Two sets of mirror-image staterooms, a pair of VIPs and a pair of twins are aft of a full-beam VIP. Alfred Karram Jr. Design Concepts collaborated with the owner to design the interior around how they like to live.
The mega yacht will also have several notable al fresco areas, including a beach club lined with teak. Lunches and dinners will be more special on the upper deck. Sliding glass doors just forward of this area can remain open to turn the skylounge into an indoor-outdoor area. The skylounge also has a bar. For simple relaxation, Ironman’s sundeck has sun lounges, two smoking tables, a large C-shape seating area and a bar.
