CRN Collaborates on 86m Explorer Mega Yacht With Harrison Eidsgaard: An explorer yacht that has the ability to make more interesting passages, going to more remote places and maintaining more self-sufficiency is the new design revealed by Harrison Eidsgaard in conjunction with CRN.
The foundation of the 86-meter mega yacht project was to create a yacht capable of comfortably meeting the requirements of an adventurous owner who wanted a working boat. Different options have been creation to create the versatility of the project to meet the requirement of potential owners and their lifestyle.
Eidsgaard noted that there are two current versions of a general arrangement for the yacht, one that includes an indoor pool for those who want to explore Arctic regions, which is a less likely requirement for owners who plan Mediterranean and Caribbean passages. Another interior version proposed a four-level open staircase that offers a spectacular open atrium, extending through virtually the entire height of the yacht.
The bow section includes space for two 12-meter tenders. One of the versions include a forward space intended to carry a Farr 30 sailing boat to cater to owners who have an interest in racing ailing boats but don’t want to be restricted to the accommodations that such boats have.
In terms of exterior design, the team intended to create a mega yacht that embodies the “working boat” aesthetic, while having well-balanced and elegant lines. Eidsgaard noted that his design house does have a signature exterior line that includes a forward dynamic that makes the boat look purposeful. Another key exterior design feature was incorporation of bridge wings, which were vital to the design.
Eidsgaard indicated that his firm has arrived at a very good design with CRN and feels that clients should not be pushed into a corner with any particular design. To that end, this project includes a lot of room for owners to have their own input.
