Damen Commissions Second SeaXplorer Megayacht
Rose Damen, the shipbuilder’s commercial director, notes that the project has been designed to the owner’s exact adventure requirements, who enjoy skiing and snowboarding on pristine slopes like Kamchatka and submersible diving and sports fishing in the Galapagos Island and Papua New Guinea. As the owners intend to go to areas with no supporting infrastructure, no reads and no heliports, Damen designed this SeaXplorer 75 to carry out such complex operations with high levels of safety and autonomy.
The vessel’s expansive aft deck is capable of receiving two helicopters at full rotation when needed. Below deck is a hangar where both helicopters may be safely stored. When not in use, the aft deck may be transformed into a massive entertainment area. The yacht also comes with onboard refueling capabilities.
Dutch studio Azure Naval Architects designed her sleek yet robust exterior. A fleet of tenders and get skis will be stored below deck, while a full dive center leads directly onto the swim platform.
The fully custom interior will accommodate 12 guests and 25 crew and support staff.
Damen’s first SeaXplorer 65 motor yacht is currently under build and will be ready for delivery in 2019.
