Hawk Yachts Reveals New 68m Explorer Yacht: British superyacht manufacturer Hawk Yachts has extended its explorer range with a new 68-meter concept named the Hawk Ranger 68. Revealed at Boot Düsseldorf 2019, the new project incorporates the same cost-and-energy-saving philosophy of its other yachts.
Designed by the Lymington, U.K.-based studio Laurent Giles, the new concept will fit in the middle of the brand’s range, which starts at 48 meters with the Cape Hawk 690 and goes up to the 103-meter Sea Hawk. Featuring steel and aluminum construction, the Hawk Ranger 68 has 670 square meters of internal space with a layout to support a charter experience for two families.
The aft deck supports a fully certified helideck, which can also double as a large sundeck or pool area. The entire design is geared toward appreciating wondrous environments, referring to its capacity for global explorations that can include the Polar Regions. Featuring the brand’s rounded Hawk Bow, the concept’s design will have an unrestricted Ice Class classification and have an extensive range of up to 6,800 nautical miles.

Matthias Bosse, CEO and cofounder of Hawk Yachts noted that his company is thrilled to produce high-value superyachts with a purpose to the market at a time when yacht owners want life-changing experiences and don’t want to tolerate the waste associated with old-school superyachts. By reducing build and operation costs and providing owners with a potential season of 50 weeks, the yard gives owners the opportunity for a return on their investment.
Featuring a smart superyacht design, the Hawk Ranger 68 will significantly reduce build and operation costs through commercial engineering and construction and have a superyacht finish.
Laurent Giles has also fully engineered the project and tank tests have been completed. Once the build is commission, a launch date could be expected within two-and-a-half years.
