Heesen Launches 50m Megayacht Project Akoya: The 50m Project Akoya was recently introduced to the water during a private ceremony at Heesen Yachts’ facilities in Oss, The Netherlands. Project Akoya is the shipyard’s second launch of the year, following that of the 70m Galactica Super Nova.

Formerly called YN 17650, the semi-displacement yacht is the fifth hull in Heesen’s 50m class, with exterior styling by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. Laupman has designed the exteriors of more than 45% of Heesen’s fleet.

Project Akoya’s exterior reflects typical Heesen styling while maintaining individuality, a difficult task in the semi-custom market. Heesen continues to build yachts that possess similar design and technical elements, but vary in their final appearance.

The yacht has four main decks, including a vast 70sqm sundeck and shaded dining on the aft upper deck. Space was well optimized to achieve the largest possible volume while remaining under 500GT. Cristiano Gatto crafter the interior design with stylings by Dutch designer Marcel Wolterinck, known for earthy, natural colors and contemporary finishes.

Project Akoya will now embark on an extensive sea trial in the North Sea where she is expected to reach a top speed of 23 knots.Start Searching For Your New Yacht Today
