Heesen Launches Megayacht Home: Photo Dick Holthuis
M/Y Home is fitted with twin MTU 12V 2000 M61 diesel engines, each with 60kW of power and water-cooled DC electric shaft motors of 127 KW. She burns 98 liters of fuel per hour as 12 knots for a cruising range of 3,750 nautical miles. Using only her generators, she can cruise at up to 9 knots, with fuel consumption predicted at only 45 liters per hour. The shaft motors can also be used as generators to service hotel loads to produce a considerable fuel savings. In boost mode, she has a top speed of 17-plus knots.
Her European owner chose designer Cristiano Gatto for the interior after seeing his work about M/Y Loyalty. The joinery, based on brush spruce, grey-strained walnut and dark Japanese Koto wood, is in contract to the predominantly white walls and furnishings. Home features a master stateroom forward on the main deck and a full-bem VIp suite and four guest cabins on the lower deck. A dedicated gym is located on the same level.
Floor-to-ceiling glazing on the main and upper decks ensures plenty of natural light. In place of a garage and beach club is a fixed swim platform with a dayhead while the guest tender is towed on the foredeck. Thanks to the plumb bow, there is a spacious below-deck locker for water toys.
After completing her fitting out, Home will undergo sea trials in the North Sea. Following a June delivery, she will depart for Scandinavia and then the Mediterranean. At the end of the summer, se is expected to depart for the Caribbean, Central America and the United States.
