Kleven and Luxury Yacht Builder Lürssen Partner for Construction of 100m Yacht: Norwegian commercial yard Kleven has signed a contract with German luxury superyacht manufacturer Lürssen to deliver a 100-meter vessel to an undisclosed customer. The as-yet unnamed explorer yacht will be built, partially outfitted and technically finalized at Kleven’s Norwegian facility before being transported to Lürssen’s Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg for her final outfitting.

Kleven CEO Ståle Rasmussen indicated that his company will lean heavily on Lürssen’s expertise in building highly advanced, world class vessels and hopes that this collaboration will be the first of many.

Further details are unavailable as designers, accommodations, performance and delivery date have not been disclosed. This development, however, points to a growing trend within the explorer yacht segment for working with commercial yards as Piriou, Vard and Ulstein Weft have all signed contracts in recent years to build large explorer yachts. Kleven has already built two yachts over 100 meters, including the 116-meter Ulysses, which is hearing completion and slated for delivery before the end of the year.
