Mega Yacht Builder WIDER Shipyard Under New Ownership: Italian shipyard WIDER has announced that Nautical Hybrid Tech has acquired its operation in their entirety. The new group of investors headed by Marcello Maggi, Zepter Group and Hopafi Holding intend to accelerate the growth of the company. Plans are to list Wider on stock exchanges within three years.
Maggi is a co-founder of ISA Yachts, the Italian superyacht manufacturer now owned by the Palumbo Group. The Zepter Group, led by Phillip Zepter, has interests in various markets, but is primarily associated with technological companies. Hopafi Holding controls two publicly listed companies in Italy and Europe and has holding interests in several companies related to energy and sustainability.
Indicating that he is thrilled to take control of WIDER, Maggi said the aim of the group is ton continue leadership in hybrid yachting as well as boost innovati9on and research. WIDER will concentrate on a niche segment and focus on quality, custom hybrid motor yachts.
After entering the superyacht market in 2017 with the delivery of the 46-meter Bartali, followed by the 49.56-meter Cecelia, the yard has endured a prolonged period of uncertainty following the department of its founder and CEO, Tilli Antontelli. WIDER has always been associated with pushing the boundaries of hybrid and green technology, and it appears this will continue under Maggi’s guidance.
