New Nemo 50 Ice Superyacht Expedition Concept Revealed: French shipyard Ocea has announced the development of the Nemo 50 ICE superyacht, developed in conjunction with Also Manna and designer Fulvio de Simoni.
The 50-meter vessel, capable of cruising polar regions via a hull built to Ice Class specifications, was conceived as a project for owners who won’t compromise on luxury or performance. Ocea primarily designs and constructs military ships, thus de Simoni wanted to reflect this in the superyacht’s appearance.
The interiors are designed with space, comfort and natural illumination in mind to connect guests with cruising in extreme environments such as the Drake Channel or the rocky Cuvehrville Island, while also enjoying indoor comforts. The full-beam owner’s apartment forward on the main deck has its own lounge that can also be used as a study. The bathroom has space for a sauna, if desired.
Large and comfortable accommodations and a recreational area for the crew ensure that staff will be well rested on long journeys in isolated regionals and have efficient workspaces.
The technical area is forward on a raised deck that can also be used to store hiking gear. Guests can access this area directly from the main salon. The planning area is less than a meter above the water line for easy access to tenders while staying sheltered from bad weather.
Davit cranes and other dedicated systems make easy work of launching and retrieving tenders and RIBS and using the same technology as Ocea’s military ships. The highly efficient engine room, which has a large workshop, has a control room that can remotely access key systems and control them manually. Both the workshop and control room can be accessed vi the lower deck crew quarters for efficiency while maintain guest privacy.
