Oceanco Launches 90m Superyacht Project Shark: Built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure to Lloyd’s standards, Y717 superyacht Project Shark has been launched by Oceanco in Alblasserdam, Netherlands. Featuring exterior styling by Miami-based designer Luiz de Basto, Project Shark boasts a combination of elegant curves and a sporty look. The project is the first collaboration between de Basto and Oceanco. She is now undergoing the final stages of completion before undergoing extensive sea trials prior to an anticipated late spring or early summer delivery.
With a beam of 14.2 meters, Project Shark features voluminous spaces designed by Nuvolari Lenard. The four-deck superyacht has accommodations for up to 12 guests across six cabins. An upper deck owner’s suite has a private terrace that faces over the bow and includes a spa pool.
The main deck saloon has stunning views through 2.3-meter tall windows, while the bridge deck swimming pool is fed by a cascade of waterfalls starting on the upper deck and flanked by sunpads. The top deck will also host a helipad. Other outstanding features include a dive center, hammam, sauna and submarine storage that’s part of a massive beach club. Two elevators have been installed, one for guests that is surrounded by a spiral staircase and another that allows for discreet service from the 31-person crew quarters.
DeBasto indicated the superyacht was called Project Shark due to the hammerhead shape in the front and its mast, which looks like a fin. The completed project differs in some ways from the original 2011 concept, most notably with the addition of the helipad. The aft deck was also isolated for privacy, making the main deck the only walk around. A pair of 4,828hp MTU 20V4000 M73L engines power Project Shark.
