The idea comes from Jean Boule Luxury Diamonds, which created an innovative manner for using vast amounts of diamond fragments leftover from its Namibian mine. The fragments could be incorporated into paint, which could also be used on private jets.
After the idea was approved for certification, it was originally picked up by Rolls Royce before Teamed Awlgrip and Oceanco elected to bring it to the yachting industry. Oceanco delivered the idea to the project’s creator Adriel Rollins, who created his first project for the shipbuilder five years ago with the late Bjorn Johansson.
Design-wise, Lumen is more aggressive, with the diamonds giving it another edge along with a new color scheme. A leading marine applicator has inspected the paint and has indicated that, in theory, it may be easier to apply and maintain than metallic paint.
