Russian Billionaire Orders 77m Superyacht Ice Breaker from Damen: Oleg Tinkov, a Russian banker whom Forbes has estimated has a net worth of $2.3 billion, has order a 77-meter icebreaker yacht from Damen Shipyards to be called La Datcha. The yacht, with delivery planned for autumn 2020, will become the first private luxurious icebreaker in Damen’s SeaXplorer series.
The Dutch shipyard is building the explorer as part of Tinkov’s luxury recreational project, also named La Datcha that will provide holidays in ultra high-end destination. La Datcha will be available for charter at price starting at €690,000 per week. Reportedly, Microsoft founder Bill Gates has expressed interest in signing up for a three-week charter. Tinkov also plans to spend up to 20 weeks annually on the yacht.
Spanning six decks, the expedition superyacht will feature a 14-meter beam and a draft of 6.5 meters for a total interior volume of 2,560 GT. She will have a speed of 14.5 knows and will have the ability to break ice up to 40 centimeters thick and maintain autonomy at seat for up to 40 days.
Generous storage spaces will provide room for a wide range of equipment and tenders that include two helicopters, a submarine, one VIP tender/rescue boat, one beach lander, one dive support tender, four waverunners, two expedition ribs and two snow scooters.
Amels and Damen will design the yacht’s custom interiors with trademark full height windows in the observation lounge, main saloon and the owner’s suite. She will come with one indoor and one outdoor Jacuzzi, a sauna and steam bath, massage room fully equipped gym and an upstairs observation deck.
La Datacha will feature six guest cabins, including two master suite and 2 VIP suites, accommodating 12 guests and a crew of 25. Each suite will have a bathroom and walk-in wardrobe.
The superyacht is scheduled to premier at the 2020 Monaco Yacht Show. Afterward, Tinkov plans to tour Lat Datcha across the Mediterranean, Seychelles, Madagascar, the Kamchatka and Kurta Islands before heading to the Antarctic in January 2021.
