Savannah Mega Yacht Center Embarks on Ambitious Redevelopment Program: While continuing to provide service and refit work to some of the world’s largest megayachts, Savannah Yacht Center has embarked on an impressive redevelopment program that will see many aspects of the yard evolve by the middle of 2018.
Abeking & Rasmussen’s 68m Aviva motoryacht has already taken advantage of the refitted 140m dry dock for a four-week servicing and is scheduled to be released momentarily. Two additional vessels re scheduled for quick turnaround at the dry dock by the end of July.
Savannah Yacht Center will have new workshops, offices and a crew amenity center and will also capitalize on its relationship with on-site coatings partner Pinmar USA, who will assist with the design and development of its paint facilities. Phil Burgess, Pinmar USA general manager noted that the paint facilities, scheduled for operation towards the end of 2017, will make Savannah Yacht Center one of the largest and best equipped superyacht refit facilities in the world.
Other new features will include a new rail transfer system capable of providing safe and efficient transfer of more than six 80m yachts simultaneously along with a new 3,240-ton capacity ship-lift due for installation during the first quarter of 2018.
