The media blackout at Vancouver, WA-based Christensen Shipyard has ended with company president Joe Foggia indicating that the yard has commenced operations again and is in a state of receivership. As previously reported by 4Yacht, Miles Stover of Turnaround Inc. has been named as the receiver.
With a primary goal of moving the shipyard forward, about 75 of what have been termed “core employees” are working again on the two superyachts currently in build—the 50m Silver Lining and the 49m Chasseur. Christensen delivered the 42m Missing Link in February.
Other projects that are reportedly under development include three 50m builds—2GES, Star 1 Project and Deputy Dog—plus two 37m Ocean Alexander projects.
Marine industry experts have speculated that Westport Shipyard wants to purchase Christensen, although Foggia has indicated that discussions have occurred, but nothing has been decided. The goal is to finalize the shipyard’s fate within 90 days.
