Superyacht Builder Heesen Expands Winterswijk Facility: Heesen Yachts has announced it has expanded its interior workshop facility in Winterswijk in the Netherlands. The Dutch manufacturer acquired the property in 2000. The new expansion consists of 2,240 square meters of space, increasing the production area to a total of 8,100 square meters.
As a result of this expansion, Heesen will increase its team by 30 individuals, bringing the Winterswijk team up to a total of 130. The shipyard has reported that the expansion in both the facility and workforce is in direct response to the increase in size and volume of the yachts Heesen builds today.
Heesen is currently operating at full capacity. The shipyard is on schedule to deliver a total of four superyacht projects I 2019, three of which have already been delivered. Heesen is also the only Dutch shipyard to have ever delivered three yachts in consecutive lunch a statistic that is demonstrative of Heesen’s commitment to quality.
In order to evolve with the market the shipyard has begun to focused on the 50-meter plus market. In addition Heesen’s Mark Cavendish noted that Heesen’s core marketing segment, with boats in the 50 meter to 80 meter range, grew slightly in 2018. Cavendish added that the shipyard will not make vessels belong that length. The average LOA of projects on Heesen’s order book is 55.6 meters
The workspace will officially open in September. Heesen officials claim that they are ready to continue the tradition of building precious superyacht interiors to the highest quality Dutch standards.
Heesen currently has an in-house department of specialists that include cabinet-makers, upholsters, joiners, polishers, painter, CNC operators, draftsman, project managers, engineers and many more.
