Three Marinas Launch Venice Superyacht Initiative: Venice, Italy wants your attention. Whereas most yacht owners and guest think of other Mediterranean areas such as Capri, Sardinia or Portofino, Venice believes you should think otherwise. With the blessing of the city officials, three Venice marines have launched the Venice Superyacht Destination initiative to raise awareness of mooring opportunities in the historic city while also promoting cultural offerings.
Even though Venice always enjoys strong tourism, it comes primarily from other channels. While a handful of large superyachts call on the city annually, few owners realize the possibilities. Thus, the Venice Superyacht Initiative has begun to target the owners of superyachts 30 meters and larger to come to the city.
The three marinas participating in the program are Venice Yacht Pier, Marina Santelena and Venezia Certosa Marine, all of which are within or near the city center. Venice Yacht Pier offers 20 berths close to St. Mark’s Square With side-to dockage, the facility accommodates of the largest megayachts in the world. Marina Santelena is a true marine with nearly 24 berths for vessels up to 40 meters. It’s located on the island of St Elena, about 10 minutes from St. Mark’s Square. Venezia Certosa Marina, also called Marina Vento di Venezia is on Certosa Island between the city center and the Lido Harbor entrance.
The three marinas decided to cooperate for several reasons, including the fact that Venice has hosted several nautical events recently, including the 50th anniversary of Ferretti Yachts in 2018. Numerous festivals and events, such as Art Biennale, Architecture Biennale and the Venice International Film Festival occur throughout the year, along with celebrations like Carnival and Festa di San Marco. The city also has famed restaurant, a historic golf club, museums and more.
Galliano Di Marco, Venice Yacht Pier’s chairman, indicated that the synergy that the partnership is expected to make will guarantee great development for the superyacht market in Venue and that the participating marinas will be able to host any type of vessel and guarantee a high standard of service.
