Metal hulls dominate in this size range, with steel more common than aluminum. Secondly, Westport can pair the W65’s steel hull with a composite structure and can tap the expertise of its parent company, Edison Chouest Offshore, which has extensive experience with steel. Edison Chouest Offshore has shipyards that build vessels for the gas and oil industry along the American Gulf Coast. It also owns American Custom Yachts in Stuart, FL, which builds sport-fishermen and services a variety of vessels.
The Westport W65 is part of a series. To date, three interior design configurations are available, including a traditional layout and a main deck master suite with accommodations for 10 guests below decks. In keeping with Westport’s longstanding practice, customer can request moving non-structural bulkheads. Owners will be able to enjoy alfresco areas fore and aft on the main and upper deck along with a beach club. Also in keeping with the market segment, which she is in, the Westport W65 is made for displacement speeds and transatlantic range.
Westport has also introduced another new model, the W45. This all-fiberglass superyacht has a similar profile to the W125, introduced last year. She features a toy hatch forward to allow room for a beach club aft. The latter has two fold-down platforms, one aft and one to the side. Like her larger sister, the W45 has five staterooms.
Additionally, Westport has redesigned its popular W112 series, which also bears the looked started by the W124. Hull number 60 of the 112 series will showcase that new look and will debut at the 2018 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Changes include engine room air induction vented outboard rather than inboard, raised seating on the fly bridge and touch-screens at the helm, along with Caterpillar power.
