Roberto Curtó Reveals 101m Mauna Kea Mega Yacht Concept: Italian designer Roberto Curtó has revealed his largest mega yacht concept to date, a 100-meter megayacht called Mauna Kea. Developed in conjunction with naval architect Mario Grasso of Navirex, the steel and aluminum design, intended as an explorer mega yacht vessel, has attracted the interest of Fincantieri Yachts.
Mauna Kea, which draws inspiration from the Hawaiian volcano of the same name, features two large staircases leading from the main to the upper deck. The forward one leads to the helipad, while the aft is split in two by a central water slide feeding the main deck swimming pool. This gives the superstructure a melting appearance, similar to a lava flow cascading down a mountain.
The superyacht will accommodate up to 12 guests, while crew quarters for 22 would also be included. Other key features include a full-beam owner’s lounge with private Jacuzzi, partially sheltered by the staircase arch but left open to the elements on both sides. From a guest’s viewpoint, the main deck is actually the upper deck, which gives the yacht a feeling of a much larger stern. With the dining area located below, guests can choose to go up one deck to the main deck or to the beach club/cinema down below.
