Major Chinese Investment Spurs SilverYachts Expansion: Australian manufacturer SilverYachts has revealed major expansion plans after the China Zhongwang aluminum group acquired a majority share of the boatbuilder in October. The deal will lead to the opening of a new yard in China for building aluminum superyachts and commercial vessels.
SilverYachts Founder Guido Krass noted that having China Zhongwang on board will allow the company to create and build innovative aluminum superyachts for the world market. Perth will remain as the company headquarters.
The eventual aim for the manufacturer is to construct a 100-meter superyacht. named Silver Global. To date, SilverYachts has launched four superyachts over 70 meters, including the iconic 77-meter Silver Fast in 2015. The launch of 85-meter Silver Loft in 2018 will give the company a new flagship as well as a new aesthetic.
Designer Espen Oeino, who has styled the entire SilverYachts fleet to date, said he is looking forward to designed the next generation of the Silver series with China Zhongwang for the global and Asian market.
The acquisition by China Zhongwang is a significant step for the company to become an active player in the high-end marine segment.
