Heesen Has Stellar Christening for 70 Meter Superyacht Galactica Super Nova: The Heesen Yachts project formerly known as Project Kometa was officially named Galactica Super Nova at a christening ceremony in early March in a ceremony attended by the yacht’s owner. At 70 meters, LOA and 1,200 GT, she’s Heesen’s largest launch to date, making her a tight squeeze inside the covered dry dock in Oss. Espen Øino designed her exterior lines while Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design produced the Interior. Even though she sports similar characteristics to the award-winning 65m Galactica Star, it’s clear that she’s much more than a larger copy.
Øino noted that a large part of the vessel’s brief was to bring in new elements while preserving strong brand recognition that Heesen enjoys. He added that the team stepped up exterior design by providing arches on the sundeck, chamfered superstructure edges and with superior levels of detailing.
Galactica Super Nova utilizes the efficient Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). She will be able to reach a top speed of 30 knots.
Additional key features include a 13,500-liter pool on the main deck aft with a glass bottom, waterfall and contra-flo system, a forward garage housing a variety of tenders and toys, include a quad ski, and an amphibious quad-bike whose wheels retract to become a jet ski.
The yacht also has a 70.07m hull with a bean of 11.9m that displaces 620 tons During construction 97 tons of aluminum was used, while 50km of cabling was used on board. Her three MTU engines provide 16,000 total horsepower while the central booster het deliver 121 kilotons of thrust at full power.
