Ritz-Carlton to Offer “SuperYacht Collection” The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, part of Marriott International will enter into the luxury yachting and cruising industrial in 2019 with finance partner Oaktree Capital. Called The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, the first of three luxury cruising superyachts in this series is slated to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Herve Humler, president and chief operating office3r of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, described the project as a unique combination of yachting and cruising that will usher in a new way of luxury travel for guests seeking to discover the world in a relaxed, elegant comfortable atmosphere with a high level of personalized service.
The overall experience will be positioned closer to that offered by the superyacht market than the cruise market. Each yacht will feature 149 suites, all of which come with a private balcony. Several innovative duplex suites will also be3 offered. The vessels will also have a beach club platform that will offer direct access to the water.
The size of the vessels also makes them an ideal setup for groups and meetings. The yachts have been designed with an innovative wall system in place so that room layouts can be modified to suit the purpose of each voyage. The collection will also be a new option for individuals who are between yachts or who lave left private ownership.
On-board experienced will reflect the level of comfort and services for which Ritz-Carlton is known. The first ship will feature an a la carte restaurant from Sven Elverfeld of Aqua and a Panorama Lunge and wine bar offering a variety of entertainment.
Itineraries, lasting seven to 10 days, will be developed to combine the lifestyle of Ritz-Carlton resorts with the casual freedom of a yachting vacation. Douglas Prothero, managing director of The Ritz-Carleton Yacht Collection said he anticipates the first yacht will cruise in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and New England. The second ship will follow similar routes, but will offer summer voyages to the St. Laurence and Great Lakes. The third vessel will focus on Asia Pacific destinations.
Barreras Shipyard in Vigo, Spain, will build the small capacity, 190m vessel that will accommodate up to 298 passengers. It will also feature two duplex penthouse suites, with The Ritz-Carlton and Tillberg Design of Sweden collaborating on the interior.
