Yacht Stealth Concept Peter Bolke Design: You may not recognize the name Peter Bolke, but chances are you would recognize his work as the British yacht designer spent more than two decades as a designer at Dubois Naval Architects where he favored inventive naval architecture and styling. Now, as an independent firm, Peter Bolke Design as provided exterior design and naval architecture for the Stealth 46M ARV that will be no ordinary superyacht.
The ARV abbreviation in the name of the 46-meter yacht concept stands for anti-radar vessel. Also called a stealth ship, these types of watercraft are less visible, and sometimes even invisible, to radar and other detection systems.
Stealth yachts are less visible, and in some cases even invisible to detection systems. Bolke’s design, which provides the exterior and naval architecture for the 46-meter concept, also calls for aluminum construction and exhibits striking naval styling in a 499GT interior that is designed to be a counter measure to standard superyachts currently available. The concept has crisp, angular lines that are carried up through the superstructure’s abundant glass while the interior will be available for what has been termed “serious buyer customization.”
With an 8.9-meter beam, she is also built for admiration. The bulwarks along the saloon are slashed and fitted with glass to significantly augment views with glass, which also flanks the stairway connecting the main and lower decks.
Yacht accommodation is for 10 guests over five cabins that include a full-beam master suite that measures 538 square feet and has 13-foot panes of glass on either side to maximize views. Crew quarters will include a mess and laundry room and will accommodate a staff of eight in four cabins.
Stealth’s power will come from 1200hp TBA engines with a top speed of 16 knots and a range of 4,800 nautical miles at 13 knots.
A yard has not yet been assigned for the project, but Bolke has indicated his preference for a British builder and a possible launch date of 2020.
